Wednesday evening, 9 June, we hosted our first evening function in the new H Block Function Room (which is the old Art room when it was at the Annexe). Local businesses who hosted our Year 10 Work Experience students were invited to a 2-course meal provided by our Hospitality students under the expert guidance of Ms Harris and Miss Maidment. The evening provided an opportunity for us to share with community members some of the great work going on here at IDSHS whilst thanking some of the businesses who continue to support us and our students.
I would also like to publicly thank our Transitions Officer, Mrs Leigh Rehbein who coordinated this year's Work Experience placements. It was a big job to place 75 students but she did it calmly and in an efficient manner.
The feedback we have had from the businesses has also be extremely positive, with many students being offered additional Work Experience or even part-time jobs as a result of their efforts during their placement. Great outcomes for the students as they now turn their thoughts to their future years of schooling and the pathways they want to explore.
