Volunteers make a valued contribution to the life and operation of the school. There are various ways in which volunteers (parents/carers, interested citizens and supporters) can make a contribution to the learning and development of young people at Isis District State High School.
Members of the Childers Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association visit the school regularly to instruct agricultural student on correct methods for grafting fruit trees, as well as numerous other farm skills.
The Childers Chaplaincy Committee oversees the work of the School Chaplain and also visit the school supporting students in activities such as the Breakfast Club.
Volunteers may assist as tutors in all fields of the school’s teaching areas and with excursions, field days and sports days. They are made to feel most welcome wherever their interests lie.
Of course, volunteers are also the backbone of the activities of the P&C, particularly in the day-to-day running of the Tuckshop.
All volunteers are covered by the P&C Personal Accident Insurance while they are on duty. They do not need to be members of the P&C, or parents/carers of students at the school, but they must sign in at the Administration Office upon arrival at the school and sign out when they leave.
Volunteers who are not parents/carers of students at the school must have a Blue Card, details of which can be obtained at the school’s Administration Office.
