Isis District State High School recently re-examined its purpose and place as the only secondary education provider within the Isis district.

The school has a prominent place within the community having operated effectively for sixty years. In that time, successive generations have attended the school and many of our current community and business leaders are graduates of Isis District High. As such, it is important that the school community remains cognisant and respectful of the lessons of the past and use those values in the development of our current young people attending school.

In an increasingly changing and dynamic society, the best chance students have for later success is to ensure their schooling experience is a positive one that provides an effective preparation for whatever futures they may pursue. As the only secondary provider of education and training in the district, the necessity to provide a broad academic and vocational preparation is critical for facilitating multiple pathways for students after school.

In combining these important themes of the past and the future, the school’s values are:

The National Framework for Values Education in Australian Schools has been used to inform our school community's core values and beliefs as described below:

  • Respecting the uniqueness of each individual
  • Learning through understanding and tolerance of other peoples' differences
  • Stressing the importance of care, compassion and co-operation in developing relationships
  • Developing honesty, trust and loyalty to ensure consistency between words and deeds
  • Accepting personal, social, civic and environmental responsibility for one's own actions
  • Strive for excellence in learning through commitment

These values drive this school’s approach to create and maintain a positive and productive learning and teaching environment, where all school community members have clear and consistent expectations and understandings of their role in the educational process.
